Dealer announcements / Spuff not in hospital. BIN still active.
« Last post by Martin "Spuff" Spufford on May 20, 2020, 02:13:04 PM »
Dear collectors of Classic Mexico clients and friends.
Unbelievable. !!!!!!!!!!!!
First it was to have been March 18 and I caught the flu. Then it was to have been April 1st and all elective surgery was cancelled because of covid 19. Then I was given a new date of May 20th!! Hooray
On Tuesday 19th May my surgeon telephoned to tell me that I had been postponed yet again as he had to do an all-day bowel cancer operation (fair enough).
My new date is Thursday 28th May.
I took my store down and put it back up again so you can go through that and choose something for your collections. Obviously NO AUCTION as I was meant to be in hospital. The auction I prepared for 31st May will not now go up then as I will (Hopefully) be in hospital.

I have done a whole lot of work to make it easier to find stamps in my Buy It Now store. See search criteria below, all revised.

1105  Lots in my Fixed Price/BIN store. (See link).
Of which  549  are Imperial Eagles  and a direct link follows here.
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sadis=15&_saslop=1&_fss=1&_sasl=spuffnstuff&LH_BIN=1&_from=R40&_nkw=eagle&_sacat=0&_sop=16

For all my Buy It Now (BIN) also called fixed price lots here is the link

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_skipfnorm=1&_nkw=&_sacat=0&_udlo=&_udhi=&_ftrt=901&_ftrv=1&_sabdlo=&_sabdhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=&_fss=1&_fsradio=%26LH_SpecificSeller%3D1&_saslop=1&_sasl=spuffnstuff&_dmd=1&_ipg=200&_fosrp=1&LH_BIN=1&_sop=3

I have revised these to make it work better for you, especially the 1856s,1861s and the 1872s.
SEARCH CRITERIA.
To search my BIN lots I have moved the lot number to the beginning of the title line so BINs are easily discernible from auction lots.
Search in title line and/or description as follows.
Here’s what to enter in your “search” at my “spuffnstuff” store for the various issue I am listing (at present).START WITH THE RED Key words and/or UNDERLINED ONES!!
PRESTAMP, LS (lettersheet from any issue/period),1856, 1856-60 and/or, EMERALD, h 1856, k 1856, tm 1856, bw 1856, 1861, 1861-64 and/or tm 1861,
k 1861, bt 1861, bw 1861, EAGLE, MAXI, 1867, GDA PROV, 1868-9, 1868-1872,
1872, bw 1872 and/or p 1872, tm 1872, bt 1872, m 1872, FOREIGN (MAIL), NUMERALITO, 1874-1877, 1878(bottom numbers), 1878-1883, PSE (Postal Stationery Envelope), MULITAS, REVOLUTION (covers and stamps), PERFIN (Mexico), AEGEAN, CHINA, NSW (New South Wales).
To further refine your search (especially in the case of Imperial Eagles) just add the district which interests you or the word “sub”.
Remember Guanajuato MAY be GTO and Guadalajara MAY be GDA, Queretaro MAY be QTO etc. This is because of the limit on characters in the title line. I try to get as much information into the title as possible. I have used the same templates (with variations) on Turbo Lister for many years so nothing should be missed.
I hope you find something in either my auction or my store.

I would say that stamp collecting is the ultimate collectable and its a natural fit for Millennials.

In general stamp collecting can be an endless lifelong treasure hunt.  It sharpens the mind - combining aesthetics with a tangible study of history.  In a sense philately may be more important now than ever.  It could also prove a superb investment if purchased wisely - and one does not necessarily need alot of space to store the collection.

Importantly there are many millions of examples available in the marketplace - at all price points - young collectors can happily start with penny stamps and eventually work up to world class rarities.  At all levels they can be displayed like a fine art collection.

And we would probably agree that classical Mexico may be among the most interesting, beautiful and complex countries to collect in all philately.

That's great news Fritz but how do we get the Millennials interested in collecting Classic Mexico?

Dear friends and stamp collectors,

It has been exactly 180 years since the first postal stamp has been released. Usually this would be celebrated accordingly. Instead most of us are on a lockdown due to too much Corona(viruses). For years many of us have been complaining that stamp collecting has become uncool and is lacking interest from the younger generations - and then I was reading a few days ago the following article in a British newspaper:

https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2020/apr/11/post-modern-why-millennials-have-fallen-in-love-with-stamp-collecting

So it looks like there might be a brighter future for our beloved stamps than we thought there would be...

Stay safe!

Fritz
