My undated cover has the Puebla box cancel Y/B show used from 1839-55. I was just trying to get a closer date with the seal used.
Any idea?

You are right Peter, but then the changes between Federalist and Centralist Governments provoked the changes to Departments and then back to States.

When would Puebla have achieved the distinction of being called Estado?

"Tesoreria Particular" means "Personal (or Private) Treasury", and Departamento de Puebla is for Puebla Department; before being named States, (Puebla State, Nuevo Leon State, etc.) they were denominated "Departamentos".

Need a better translation
« Reply #1 on: January 08, 2014, 02:16:03 PM »
I need a better translation on the following terms. "Tesorería Partícula", that google translates as "Treasury Particle" This is on an oval seal that has in the center the following, "Departm(ental) de Puebla". Cover has no date and it is Postmarked with a Puebla + box date. Sent to Tlapa.
I am trying to figure out what would be a better translation than Particle?
Any help appreciated.
If I have time, I will do a scan.
