Thank you Mark, I understand the "thru the lines" rule as I have several other examples in both Hidalgo and Maximilian but why applied twice and the two 2 appear different in shape ? Also does it mean taxed at 4; I supposed not as they had the 4 hand-stamp and the origin stamp was only 2. Any idea ?

Both '2' markings appear to be the same. This is a wonderful example of a 'through the lines' cover from SLP to Saltillo during mid 1864. The recipient would be charged 2 reales on delivery in Saltillo as the prepaid 2 reales [Eagle stamp] would only cover the postage to the transfer point.

can anyone explain this dual 2 tax thru the lines ? Is this a tax of 4R ? The 2's are different in shape !
