Hi Fritz, thanks; that is quite possible. No Maxi cover to the UK is known to me, but this stamp was in Europe (Netherlands). Cheers

Eagles / Re: unknown 1864,8R eagle with Mexico arrival cancel

Tampico is with Saltillo the only place with district name regularly in diagonal.

Eagles / Re: unknown 1864,8R eagle with Mexico arrival cancel
« on: November 22, 2020, 06:17:16 AM »
Only number 8 with 1864 visible, so it must be a 3rd period district that received 8R ocho's: VERACRUZ = 180, SALTILLO = 181, MEXICO = 183, MORELIA = 186 or TAMPICO 218. The picture I cannot enlarge and print so I cannot see the district name but in diagonal position should restrict the choice.... Best JC

Maximilians / Is this a thru the lines manuscript mark ?
« on: February 18, 2020, 08:20:34 AM »
I see a manuscript mark 25 on a letter with a Maximilian stamp. Th letter is dated December 31 and is sent from Mexico-City to San Luis Potosi. The key to clarify this is : was San Luis Potosi still under the control of the Maximilian trops, or not.

Eagles / Re: Meaning of Dual 2 Tax on letter ?
« on: February 03, 2020, 04:57:46 AM »
Thank you Mark, I understand the "thru the lines" rule as I have several other examples in both Hidalgo and Maximilian but why applied twice and the two 2 appear different in shape ? Also does it mean taxed at 4; I supposed not as they had the 4 hand-stamp and the origin stamp was only 2. Any idea ?

Maximilians / Unknown cancel JALA.....
« on: February 23, 2019, 06:06:37 AM »
I have this unknown NEGATIVE partial cancel on a 25c inv 124 from ORIZAVA; Clear JALA... but may not be JALAPA and certainly not JALACINGO ? What else ? Too sophisticated to be a fake, in my opinion. Please show a complete cancel if you have it. It is neither in Taylor nor Schatzkes ? Thanks

Eagles / Re: Eagles was the 2012 Split list updated ?
« on: July 21, 2018, 04:01:15 AM »
Hello Randall, 156 that is a big jump from the original 39 ! Did you have a chance to look at the Certificate listing, now in the hands of Marc Gonzales I presume, since most split owner would want them certified ? Thanks for your response. JC

Eagles / Eagles was the 2012 Split list updated ?
« on: July 20, 2018, 04:27:26 PM »
Hello,I have read the 2012 October Mexicana issue that provided a list of 39 Eagles splits known then (page 164). Two 2R covers are listed from Queretaro, one from the sub-office of San Miguel Allende, cut vertically, the other horizontally without detail may relate to the attached acquired before and exhibited at Aripex ? It is also from SMA in 1865, and the cover is dated May 23, 1865. The cover has a Mepsi certificate N°16133, dated July 20,1995. I wonder therefore whether the Certificate listing was reviewed as it could have provided the above information.
Lastly, was the 2012 list updated in the meantime ?

Maximilians / Re: JARAL Where is it
« on: June 20, 2018, 06:10:36 AM »
Thanks Rodolfo, so that could be the El Jaralito that exists these days ?
Thanks for franking your last enveloppe with the Mexican football team stamps; if they win the World Cup, it will become a most valuable enveloppe !!! JC

Maximilians / JARAL Where is it
« on: June 19, 2018, 05:53:44 AM »
I have been looking for JARAL on a map, believing I would find it around SAN LUIS POTOSI, but a flop ! Could it be EL JARALITO ? Was the name changed but to what then ? Thanks for your help. JC

Maximilians / Re: Please HelpWith Sub., from Puebla
« on: May 19, 2018, 04:15:32 AM »
Hello Rodolfo, the sub number cannot be S28 or S29 because the cancellation is with a double circle for Chalchicomula (28) or Tehuacan (29) as you can see on the attached pictures. I also attach samples of S32 (Atlixco) and S38 (Acatlan) with clear numbers and partial single circle cancellation.... Make your choice.... Cheers JC
